"Doors to the Past" is a website that is filled with accurate Cabell County history. Unlike many other genealogy sites, this one is not just genealogy but also the history surrounding the area and the families. Webmaster Barry Huffstutler and his assistant Ed Prichard strive to keep the site updated with new and accurate information as they discover it.

HUGS OF HOPE
We collect (teddy bears) "teddies", 9" and 14" soft cuddly and huggable bears or accept financial donations to purchase teddy bears. We are chiefly interested in supplying them to those on the front lines where hurt, grief, trauma and disasters are experienced. You can become involved a couple of ways by donating new 9"-14" teddy bears or by a tax deductable financial contribution to Hugs of Hope, Huntington, WV. For as little at $5.00 each, we have the ability to purchase teddy bears from a wholesale supplier and then distribute them where needed.
Our focus will be on providing the bears to local police, fire departments, hospitals, child protective services, judges, hospices, funeral homes and families of child abuse, etc.
We will be making contact with local first response organizations that we will choose to work with. We are excited about the prospect of bringing comfort to children in traumatic situations through the hugs of teddy bears and words of personal encouragement.
This is a great opportunity for you, your church, civic group or organization to get involved in changing lives and setting the life-course of children that are being placed in hurtful or grievous situations, due to no fault of their own.

The West Virginia National Cemetery is fortunate to have the "Taylor County Color Guard." This is a group of retired VFW, DAV and American Legion members. Upon request, they will render Military Funeral Honors for any veteran to be interred in this cemetery. They perform a very dignified and compassionate service and consider it an honor to do this for a fellow comrade. |
